My name is Ryan Ferns I would like to be your Democratic candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates in District Three. I am proud to say that I was born in Wheeling, West Virginia. I attended St. Vincent de Paul Grade School, located in Elm Grove, West Virginia. I then went on to attend Wheeling Central Catholic High School. When deciding upon where I would receive my college education, I felt it was important to remain in the Ohio Valley where I could continue to serve my community. I received a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Wheeling Jesuit University. I am now employed by Genesis Healthcare as a Physical Therapist, where I provide home health care to elderly and injured in remote and rural areas. I also serve on the Advisory Council for the Governor's Office of Health Enhancement and Lifestyle Planning representing the interests of consumers.
While many of my classmates were eager to relocate to other areas, I felt great pride in growing up in the Ohio Valley and was happy to call this Valley my home. In my youth, I can recall the stories of the coal miners in Triadelphia. The stories were about men who worked hard and earned a good wage. Jobs such as these have all but vanished, and with them went many of the people they employed. I truly believe that the people of Ohio County are some of the hardest working people you can find in this great country. Being surrounded by these people has without doubt got me to where I am today. I now humbly ask the residents of Ohio County to give me the opportunity to give back to this area by serving them in the West Virginia House of Delegates.Wheeling, West Virginia and the Ohio Valley were once great. With a young and enthusiastic spirit, I believe that we can once again regain the prominence of yesteryears. If elected, I will exercise the same work ethic that West Virginians are known for in my efforts to make Wheeling and the Ohio Valley a great place to be employed, raise a family and one day retire.
